Fort Erie Native Wins the OCAA Boston Pizza Shoot for Cash Skills Competition

The Niagara College Athletic Department was very pleased to present Ian MacKinnon of Fort Erie with a cheque for $1,000. MacKinnon participated in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Boston PIZZA Shoot for Cash skills competition at the recent Niagara College Knights men’s basketball home game against Algoma University College. He was successful in making all four shots, including a lay-up, foul shot, three-point field goal, and the final shot from centre court to capture the big prize. Ian is the first contestant to win the $1,000 prize at Niagara College since the competition began five years ago, while the OCAA has had four other winners over all at other institutions.

The Knights have three more league home games in which contestants will be selected to participate in the OCAA Boston Pizza Shoot for cash competition. Contestants will be chosen during half time of the men’s and women’s games to try their luck. Niagara will host Mohawk College on Friday, February 6th; Fanshawe on Thursday, February 12th and close out the regular schedule against the OCAA defending champions Sheridan Bruins on Wednesday, February 17th. All games begin at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
